At an altitude of 2,275 metres a.s.l., Plan de Corones in Valdaora is South Tyrol’s No.1 skiing mountain and considered one of the most modern skiing areas in Italy. Plan de Corones is just a few minutes from the Hotel Post by car, and it welcomes visitors with 31 lift facilities, a gondola cableway with free Wi-Fi, and a total of 116 km of skiing slopes. Thus, despite the amount of skiers, there are no queues on the slopes or waiting times at the facilities.
With its diversified and well prepared slopes, Plan de Corones (as part of the bigger Dolomiti Superski) offers adventures on the slopes for all abilities, levels, and expectations, including the 6.5-km-long downhill run down to Valdaora – a true challenge for real skiing enthusiasts (1,170 meters difference in height). All together, there are five spectacular downhill runs into the valley basin (to Valdaora, Riscone/Reischach, San Vigilio/St. Vigil, and Casola/Gassl), and they are open till mid-March.
Experienced skiers will find five black slopes, the "Black Five", as they are known locally. A particular challenge is the thrilling Piculin slope, which has been described by the leading journal Skiresort.de as the “best black piste ever”. The Plan de Corones adventure mountain also boasts the largest snow park for snowboarders and freeriders in South Tyrol, with many different kickers and rails. In addition, it hosts a renowned children's park and award-winning ski schools.
